FSSAI has informed that the premises of honey manufacturing/processing units are required to be inspected at regular intervals as use of Golden syrup, Invert sugar syrup and Rice syrup are sometimes used in the production of honey being cheaper in cost. During the inspection, if any evidence or presence of Golden syrup, Invert sugar syrup and Rice syrup is detected for which FBO is not answerable to satisfaction of Inspecting officer, the FBO is required to be prosecuted as per penal provisions.
